Leadership Studies Minor

The Leadership Studies minor is a joint effort between the Office of Student Life and the Political Science Department.

  • A minimum 30 credits are required for this minor, including 15 upper-division.
  • If you are in an SPU leadership position and advised through the Office of Student Life, University Ministries, or The Perkins Center (i.e., PAs, SMCs, ASSP leaders, or STUB), you are eligible to apply.
  • The practicum portion of this minor must be taken while you hold one of those leadership positions. 
  • POL 2900 “Foundations of Leadership” is offered every other Autumn Quarter.
  • POL 4930 Leadership Practicum will account for 5–10 credits.  
  • You will take 15–20 credits in three areas that include specific lists of existing courses in fields such as psychology, sociology, political science, communications, philosophy, and business.
